Perrin Chiles is the CEO and co-founder of Adaptive Studios, guiding the company’s strategic vision to become the versatile studio of the future. As an Emmy® award-winning producer with a background in private equity, finance and entrepreneurship, Chiles is uniquely positioned to lead this next-generation studio.
Founded in 2012, Adaptive is an entertainment studio with a vast library of owned IP that develops and produces original stories for traditional and digital distribution. Chiles has led the company in raising $28.5M in funding to-date and has secured partnership with high profile collaborators and distributors including AMC Networks, HBO, Netflix, FX Networks, Fox Animation, and blackpills. Adaptive reimagines and revitalizes abandoned IP from the Hollywood system through films, television, digital entertainment and books – focusing on the platform that best fits the story.
Chiles executive produced the highly acclaimed, Emmy® nominated Project Greenlight as well as Adaptive’s young adult feature film Coin Heist, debuting on Netflix, which marked the first successful conversion from script to novel to feature film for the studio. Adaptive is also developing other publishing works as feature films, most recently Air in partnership with John Legend’s production company Get Lifted and Lionsgate. Additionally, Chiles was recently named as Entrepreneur Magazine’s “50 Most Daring Entrepreneurs” of 2017.
Prior to Adaptive, Chiles founded In Effect Films to produce socially-conscious documentary films such as the Academy Award® Short-Listed and Emmy® Award-winning Autism: The Musical and the award-winning surfing documentary film Splinters. Before moving to Los Angeles, Chiles worked at Elevation Partners, a leading media and entertainment private equity fund, and Silver Lake Partners, a premiere technology private equity fund.
Chiles graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics & History and resides in Los Angeles with his wife and kids.
